Taheri Masala is crafted for the traditional one-pot rice dish popular in Hyderabadi and Awadhi cuisine. With balanced warm spices, it produces a yellow-tinted, fragrant rice dish—simple, wholesome, and full of homely flavor.
Ingredients:
• 2 cups basmati rice
• 250g mutton or chicken (optional)
• 2 potatoes (cubed)
• 1 cup green peas
• 2 onions (sliced)
• 2 tbsp Taheri Masala
• 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
• 3 tbsp ghee or oil
• Salt to taste
• 4 cups water
Recipe Steps:
• Soak rice for 20 minutes.
• Heat ghee; fry onions golden.
• Add ginger-garlic paste, meat (if using), and masala.
• Add potatoes, peas, and salt; sauté 5 minutes.
• Add water and bring to a boil.
• Add soaked rice; cover and cook on low flame until done.
• Rest 10 minutes before serving.
